Top 3 Winners – “Winners” in the international architectural competition Tiny House

Mirai House’s “Cellule of Urban” design has surpassed many excellent entries and was honored as one of the Top 3 Winners in the Tiny House 2023 competition. Organized by Volume Zero Magazine, this global contest seeks to recognize innovative small-scale housing designs that are creative, flexible, and capable of meeting essential home needs, with a focus on adaptability and multifunctionality.

The Tiny House 2023 competition presented a challenge for creating highly adaptable small house designs suitable for global application. Participants were required to offer creative solutions ensuring functionality for two people within a limited area of approximately 27 square meters. This international architecture competition saw participation from numerous design firms worldwide and was sponsored by the renowned Swiss architectural magazine Archdaily.

The design team directly addresses challenges faced by many developing countries, including Vietnam, such as optimizing small urban spaces to meet urgent housing needs. By incorporating the characteristics of Vietnamese urban alleys into their design approach, the team focused on Thanh Khe District in Da Nang to analyze and simulate various spaces, ultimately creating a housing profile adaptable to most of these areas.

The house features a modular design, with each module serving multiple purposes. When combined, these modules offer a range of design options and functionalities. To ensure a strong “HOME” character, the indoor spaces emphasize user interaction and openness to natural light. The house’s interaction with its surrounding context, achieved through feasible and harmonious façade materials, also reflects the community integration spirit of the design.

The competition results further affirm the capabilities of Mirai House’s team of architects and highlight their commitment to creating residential spaces that are not only functional but also creative and unique.
